Drop off/Pick up

Student Drop-off and Pick-up

Your child's safety is of utmost importance to us. Therefore if your child's dismissal routine is changing in any way, such as riding the bus vs. being a car rider, going home with another child or parent, etc. you must send a note to his/her teacher. In the absence of this communication, we will be compelled to make certain that your child follows the usual routine. Transportation arrangements are not to be made over the phone. Please take care of this before your child leaves for school.

Car Arrival

Students arriving at school in automobiles will be dropped-off in the drop-off lane in the front of the building. Please pull up as far as possible so that as many children as possible can be unloaded at one time. Students should be ready to exit the vehicle as soon as the cars are stopped. Students should always get out of the car on the curbside. There is no parking along the curb. There will be a teacher visible in front of the school.

Parents who wish to walk their children into the building must park in the parking lot, and then must accompany their children to the building, crossing the street at a designated crosswalk.

Students should arrive in time to be in their classes before the tardy bell rings at 8:15 a.m.

Car Dismissal

Students should be picked-up promptly at 3:10 in front of the school. Cars should pull up to the curb as far as possible and stop as directed. We ask that parents remain in their automobiles. Teachers will be on duty to assist you and your children. Students will be escorted by teachers to the benches out near the pick-up lane. They are to wait there until their transportation has arrived and may not leave the pickup area to meet parents in the parking lot or on the street. To pick up children, parents may park in the parking lot and walk to the pickup area, crossing at the crosswalk in front of the school.

CHILDREN SHOULD BE PICKED UP BY 3:30.

Bus Riders

Buses load and unload on the left side of the building under the drop-off shelter. At dismissal, students are escorted to the buses or called from the classrooms as the buses arrive. At 3:30 p.m. all remaining bus students will wait in the bus area for buses to arrive. Please review bus safety with your child. Please know that arrivals and dismissals are supervised by teachers. It is strongly encouraged that you read the MPS Code of Student Behavior handbook as it relates to the rules and regulations concerning buses.

Before and After School Safety

Students should not arrive on school campus before 7:45 a.m. unless they will be eating breakfast. Breakfast is served between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. Parents are asked not to leave students unsupervised on campus before that time. Adult supervision will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Students are not to be left at school after 3:30 p.m., unless they are participating in an approved after-school activity.
